Uncanny
Today I’ve read an article about some british craftswoman producing baby-like dolls. She is really good at her job, and makes her best to manufacture as realistically looking dolls as possible. The dolls can even breathe. Do you already expect some cute looking little wonders? Wrong. A single reaction from people who commented the article was they were fucking freaked out. Indeed the dolls look really CREEPY (pics). And it is no surprise. Cathy Newcombe starting this business probably has never heard about it, but there is a theory called uncanny valley hypothesis. It basically states that, the more you try to reproduce artificially nice looking human the better chance is you get an opposite reaction. Interesting isn’t it? So back to what I wanted to say. If you are in toy, robot, CGI, gaming or sex doll industry and plan a human looking product, you will fail. Don’t do that. (Unless, of course, you are Ron Mueck and love scaring people).

I totally agree with your statement, cathy newcombe would never know this uncanny valley theory and i would like to add she never started the reborning business, infact looking at her purple babies i doubt she’s been doing it very long, her member’s do much better babies than her and her staff.
I have looked at this cathy newcombe’s guild and all i can see is that she loves, thrive’s on attacking her member’s….total shock horror, it looks like its a thriving business she and her bullied boyfriend, “forum crap” he calls himself ( he looks so feeble) when you look at there member numbers but then you scrawl through there crap and you see she only has 20 active members as all the rest she’s bullied with her other 20 member’s off line. My mom makes reborn babies and is a member of other usa guild’s and she started to notice that other reborner’s were talking about a vile woman who attacks her own people who she should look after, nurture and advise but then again i think she needs to learn this art too.
My mom has decided to aviod this place like a lot of reborner’s, but once she told me about it i had to go see for myself, so me and my girlfriends and some college friends go look when we need a laff and we’ve had 10 bottles of bud….heehee.
I would love to see miss cathy newcombe advance with the babies she tries to makes and then she could back up her advice because at the moment i certainly would never take advice from someone who cannot reborn a paper grocery bag.

So my advice is if you need a shock or a laff at one big fat bully who likes to bully go ahead and look, but if you have morals, respectabilty and kind hearted then aviod this person and her picked on boyfriend ( his pics are so feeble) and her members, if you see them run like the wind.
She does have a very bad name in the reborning world.

several times, as a lot of members become disheartened when their art form is met with disgust or feelings of panic.
To break it down, basically the theory suggests when inanimate objects are incredibly lifelike they produce feelings of revulsion and panic, as the brain has difficulty adjusting to the fact the object is inanimate, and is seen as a dead child.
